Climbing accident at Everest Camp III

Our friend MAGAN BISSA, a leading mountaineer of the country and a veteran of 4 Everest Expeditions and summiter of mountains such as Nanda Devi , Saser Kangri and many more mountains, was looking forward to making his fourth attempt at summitting Mount Everest His first was in 1984 with the Sucessful IMF expedition which put the first Indian women Bachendri Pal on top of Everest.
He was a member of the team from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi, India. Unfortunately on 07 May 2009, at camp 3 he fell ill and his serious condition needed immediate, invasive medical attention. He was promptly evacuated from the base camp to Kathmandu. An immediate surgery followed that led to the removal of 80% of his intestine! Sheer grit and determination helped him recover and return home.
However, post operative complications drove him to seek further medical help and is now admitted in the Institute of Liver and Binary Sciences, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, for the past 30 days. He has been in Intensive care unit and the treatment is being carried out under the guidance of the best doctors in the country. The treatment at the hospital may take anytime from 2 weeks to 3 months depending upon the healing process. His situation is VERY CRITICAL.
Apart from the slow healing, the mounting cost of hospitalisation and medication – nearly Rs.25,000 per day- has taken its toll on his family. The IMF has lent its support by granting him Rs. 1.5 lacs. It is very evident that with no support from other similar organisations it would be extremely difficult to carry on with this medical treatment. Mrs. Bissa and her family have been braving these hurdles with pride and dignity.
Here is our chance to reach out in the true spirit of mountaineering, seeking limits of the unknown and with a deep sense of respect for what nature has in store, to help a fellow man be healthy and live to tell tales of camaraderie that allows one to achieve the impossible.
We request all whom we know from within the climbing community and elsewhere, to kindly make a contribution towards his medical expenses and help our friend with an indomitable spirit to get back on his feet.
This little act of kindness is surely going to touch the lives of an entire family who have contributed a lot towards nurturing a young generation of climbers.
Please do send the details of the transfer to this email ID soo that we can track the payment details.
warm regards,

Dear Magan,
I was very sorry to hear about your illness from Mo.
Its particularly tragic that something like this should happen to you; give that you have helped rescue so many other climbers in the past on Everest.
I certainly hope other climbers will pitch in to help you out ; given how generous you are / have been toward other climbers.
Best of Luck to you and your family,
Teji
Magan,
We are sorry to hear about your illness. Who can we send the contribution to?
Dearest Magan,
My mind goes back to 1978 when we were course mates at HMI doing our Advance. Our like mindedness brought us nearer in the following years, and as IMF members and National Sports Committee members we have worked together towards a common goal.
I and my wife feel very sad about your illness which you acquired on Everest, the mountain you loved most. We pray for your early recovery and may `Sagarmatha’ shower her blessings upon you. We are sure, your extreme self-confidence will bail you out of this ailment soon. We are with you. Love,
